Actually, I would propose to allow something like
crossfadingstart = -2 crossfadingduration = 2
which would mean that the fading in of the next song starts two seconds after the previous song has ended.
Note that setting "crossfading = off" would disable such a solution. In this sense, having an additional setting "songgap" would be preferable.
What do you think? Jörg
Well - if there is the possibility to use an additional setting like "songgap" I'd prefer to use this one instead of messing around with the crossfading-settings ... (and be sure that I *will* mess around ;-) )
Well, that would have the same functionality as crossfadingduration, so why make a distinction. In the end we don't want to have options that are mutual exclusive and can create dubious situations. That's why I would go to something like: Crossfading disabled, 2 seconds silence Eg: AAAA BBBB songfade = 0 songgap = 2 Fade-out and fade-in of 2 seconds before the song ends, and 2 secs on song start-up. 4 seconds duration, no silence Eg: AAAaabbBBB songfade = -2 songgap = 0 Fade-out and fade-in of 2 seconds, with 2 second pause in between. 6 seconds duration of which 2 seconds silence Eg: AAaa bbBB songfade = -2 songgap = 2 Crossfading enabled, 2 second fade-out, 2 second fade-in, with 2 second overlap (1 second each) 4 seconds duration of which 2 seconds crossfade Eg: AAAaxxbBBB songfade = -2 songgap = -2 I hope this explains it a bit. To me what still confusing is the fact that the songfade (or whatever other name) is counted twice (both for the fade-out and the fade-in), while the songgap is counted only once. But with these 2 options you can describe all the different situations (at least where the fade-out and fade-in has the same duration, otherwise you need at least 3 options, which is less confusing but probably nobody cares about it). What do people think about this ? Kind regards, -- dag wieers, dag@wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/ -- [all I want is a warm bed and a kind word and unlimited power]
