Hello everyone,
I am quite new to pytone, after checkout pytone out of trunk repo, and copy the example pytonerc to my home directory, setup musicbasedir and switch sound driver to alsa,
type = internal driver = alsa device = default bufsize = 100 crossfading = on crossfadingstart = 5 crossfadingduration = 6
pytone starts and scan my music directory, until here everything looks fine, but after select a song and click "p" there is no sound coming out of the speaker. but I think my soundcard has no problem at all, because it has sound for all other applications like playing music in cmus, watch movie with mplayer, flash inside firefox. so I think there is something I missed in pytonerc to make pytone to find my sound device. and I had tried to search solution on google and pytone mailing list, it seems there are nobody have the same issue as me. so... any tips? thx
system spec: ubuntu 8.10 amd64 soundcard: creative x-fi XtremeMusic with latest creative opensource driver. pytone: svn r348

so... any tips? thx
Maybe pulseaudio related? Two things to try:
1) Use pulseaudio backend instead of alsa, change one line in your pytonerc: (not in v3.0.1, in SVN trunk I believe)
driver = pulse
2) Explicitly disable pulseaudio when running pytone:
pasuspender pytone
