I have just downloaded the svn trunk.

Then I used the following as the rc file

musicbasedir=/mnt/hd

when I try to play a song, the following log appears:

My system is a standard Slackware 12.

Any suggestions?

Hmm. Have you upgraded from an older version of PyTone, respectively,
which version are you using?

I would also try to start from a clean state, i.e. remove any
existing database (look in ~/.pytone)
